The Echo chamber dilemmaThe promise of the Internet was that unlimited information and experiences would draw us together. But instead it seems to have driven us apart.
For years I've observed this behavior but haven't been able to vocalize it correctly. Originally I called the behavior of collective opinions as "the hive mentality" of the Internet. But that wasn't exactly right and I often got called out on it. The most prominent example was when I made a comic about a guy disagreeing with opinions and being shouted at till he remained quiet, eventually fading into the background with everyone else. The consensus of that comic was that if you disagree with someone you aren't bullied into not speaking, but instead are free to go someplace else where people who do agree with you exist. And you know what? That wasn't what i was trying to convey, but is sadly true. The Internet is not a hive mind. It's many tiny pocket echo chambers of mutual agreements.

Ok, it's been five months and loads has happened. Quick summary.

Amecon happened. I had a good time, felt really ill on my birthday but still had a great day, really enjoyed being Ganondorf from Wind Waker and taking part in the masquerade and had a great birthday meal.

Started back at my school, this time in charge of year 6 but with a really tough class as well as the pressures of getting them through the SATs...ouch. The stress has been affecting me quite badly, especially health-wise...

In that line, I've been diagnosed with depression (again? Did they not have that on file?) as well as high stress levels, my immune system (which has been weak since I started teaching) has dropped, I've had the norovirus (winter vomiting bug) TWICE, the last time lead me to quite bad dehydration to the point where the doctor advised me to go to A&E but said he couldn't force me...so I didn't go LOL

Here I am, slowly on the mend now!

Okies, what else...um. I had a rather terrible Christmas in all honesty. Christmas in my house has all but disappeared. No decorations, no Christmas dinner, no presents...so pretty depressing. Thank the gods that *Leonie-Heartilly came to visit not long after and made it feel Christmassy for me. One of her gifts to me was to go to the Harry Potter tour so I can't wait for that!

Okies, think that about wraps things up! Got some visits to friends' places soon, quite excited! And going to see Lindsey Stirling on Monday ^_^
